Spring is here! And with it bright sunny days, filled with beautiful colours. But, if you’ve spent most of winter with a beanie on your head, chances are your hair colour isn’t bright and beautiful.
Winter generally means we hibernate and let’s be honest 2020 has been the year of the hermit! And unless you have a hairdresser living with you, we have all gone a bit longer than usual getting our hair tended to. Now you can Brass Off like a Pro at home!
Did you know blonde hair isn’t the only hair that needs ongoing maintenance? As soon as we colour our hair, we expose our natural underlying pigment (which is always a warm colour – think red, orange and yellow). So even if you’ve got a gorgeous brown colour, you may notice over time it starts looking a little red or orange.
How do I fix this?
To combat these brassy tones, we first need to have a little understanding of colour theory. When we look at the colour wheels below it shows us ‘complementary colours’. These colours neutralise each other, so in terms of your hair if you look below, to neutralise Yellow you need Purple, Orange you’ll need Blue and Red you’ll need Green.
I know it sounds completely daunting to use those colours in our hair but fortunately Matrix have found the perfect balance of colour to avoid any unwanted mishaps!
These incredible shampoos and conditioners combat the brassy tones by depositing the correct neutralising colour.
Still don't get it? Well let me simplify it even more for you:
If you have brown hair and it's got a red hue use:
If you have medium/light brown or dark blonde hair with too much orange use:
Matrix Total Results Brass Off Shampoo followed by Matrix Total Results Brass Off Custom Neutralization Mask and finishing with the Matrix Total Results Brass Off Blonde Threesome or Matrix Total Results Brass Off Conditioner.
And finally if you are blonde and your hair is looking too yellow use:
