The first Monday in May. Around this time, the highly-anticipated fashion event of the year unfolds right before our eyes (even in the comforts of our homes). The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala, is a fundraising ball for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
Since 1948, this all-out glamour and fashion event has been serving us all the looks and iconic fashion moments etched in history. This year, we were treated to the theme, In America: An Anthology in Fashion. The dress code excited fashion fans as it focused on gilded glamour.

The model stunned the red carpet with an Alexander McQueen silver pailettes metallic dress. She took on a romantic look with shimmering eye shadows, a cat eye, and a rosy pink lip by Naoko Scintu. To complete her romantic motif, she had cascading waterfall of ringlets by Guido Palau.
The actress donned a bedazzling sequined gown by Ralph Lauren. Monae opted for a more futuristic look. “We're going with something again that fills that gilded glamour, but in the future, something that feels timeless."
Everyone’s #1 best-dressed pick of the night, co-host Blake Lively wowed us with her ethereal interpretation of the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building by Versace. Looking decadent in an all-natural look with matching pink lip, Blake shows us why she’s the queen of this ball.
The singer went for a modern interpretation of the gilded era with Area. Her all-glammed look was created by makeup artist David Velasquez and with a hairstyle that shows the versatility of braids by hairstylist Nicole Newland.
Hot pink is definitely the colour of the season. Artist Kiki Layne wore a ruffled gown Prabal Gurung and matched her makeup along with glowy and shimmery skin and pink eye shadow by Billie Gene and hair by Tish Celestine.
The supermodel wore a ruby corset and a full quilted puffer jacket by Versace. And red hot was really her theme down to the glossed lip colour that makeup artist Erin Parsons applied on her plump lips.
The recently Grammy-nominated and winner, Oliva Rodrigo, worked with Versace for her sophomore stint at the Met Gala 2022. She matched her dreamy lavender gown with purple smokey eyes on her peepers. Completing her butterfly fairy-like look were loose waves and butterfly clips.
